[ Aodhan follows behind her, taking the place in as he does - it always reminds him a bit of his old employer's, minus the staff - then parks himself on the sofa and slips off his satchel. ]
Now there's something I have no trouble imagining. You with all manner of cheek. [ He sets his bag down against the sofa and brings his hand back up -- it's still carefully bandaged for now. ] As for me, with three sisters and a brother -- [ He falters for a second, like he's just remembered something, then continues quickly. ] I was scrappy enough. We did, however, tend to avoid getting scrappy with broken glass...
[ He picks a bit at the bandage, pressing his finger lightly over the stitched-up injury underneath, and shifts so he's facing her a little better. He smiles warmly, if with a bit of uncertainty. ] So -- what does this entail, exactly?
Mmm. Broken glass is never something to be trifled with.
[ She nods sympathetically, seemingly unbothered by his odd pause.
By Tillie's feet is a fine wooden box. It had ornate sigils carved into and a leather strap around the middle, attached to a tarnished lock. She leans over and brings the box to her lap. She produces a key from her pocket and undoes the lock. Before opening it, however, she splays her hands over the top and speaks low; ]
tutus pateat...
[ The runes seem to shimmer for a moment, just the blink of an eye. The Tille pops the lid open, revealing an apothecary's chest. There are several glass bottles stoppered up with various herbs other ingredients. All are labeled in Latin. ]
I'll just need to make up a paste with the right ingredients. You'll wear it like a salve and I'll have to say a few words over it, but nothing extensive. Shouldn't take long at all.
[ Aodhan watches her do this with interest and a little wariness. He'd had quite enough misgivings about magic back in his own world, and finding out that magic exists here, too, albeit in a slightly different capacity, had been a surprise. But this is important - his livelihood - and he's come to trust Tillie, magic and all.
He eyes the contents of the box, then looks back up at her, and back down, shyly, to his bandaged hand. ]
That sounds much more pleasant than my visit to A&E. Is this something you do very often?
[ Tillie shrugs as she pulls out a few different bottles as well as a mortar and pestle. ]
I don't use magic on little things. You know, like a papercut or a scraped knee. And I can't work on anything too complicated...but luckily your injury is right in the middle there. Pretty straight forward but in need of just a little bit of extra help.
[ As she speaks she starts combing the different ingredients into the stone bowl and crushing them together into a fine powder.
She looks up at Aodhan and smiles. ]
I need some hot water for this next bit. Do you want some tea while I'm at it?
the world caught fire and i lost track of this, sorry!! hope you're well!
[ Aodhan watches her work with interest, blinking back up at the question. ] Thank you, tea would be lovely.
[ He shifts a bit, looking thoughtful as he tries to formulate this next question. ] Now -- I'm sure this is going to sound silly. But... your magic, where does it come from? Do you know?
